#Dadapproved – City Mini GT Double vs. City Mini Double

I am asked daily what I think about the Baby Jogger City Mini Double/City Mini GT Double stroller. So, today that’s what I want to talk about…

The City Mini and City Mini GT double (and even the single for that matter) are probably the most popular strollers out there. It’s the only stroller my Husband has every had an opinion on (other than being pissed I bought another one, ha!). He referred to our City Mini as the “Road Warrior”. It got this name because my he thought it could handle anything and everything…. He would fill it up with groceries, pack it with toys to take to the park or stick B in there and wheel him around the condo to get him to nap. By far, his favorite feature was the fold. You pull the strap that says “PULL” and it folds in a second. Doesn’t get much easier than that! He loathes folding strollers, so, that pretty much sealed the deal. #dadapproved

My two absolute favorite features on the City Mini GT Double were the insanely large canopy & near flat recline. When you are out with two littles, you NEED those options available. My least favorite feature? The basket. Small and incredibly hard to access. You know how I feel about this….

Anyways, below is a list to compare the two. Hope this helps someone in their search for the perfect double stroller!

If your kids are on the taller side and you are a family that spends a lot of time outdoors, or maybe you live in Chicago like we do and have to deal ridiculous never ending snow storms… the City Mini GT Double is probably your best option… or, maybe you need a light, everyday double stroller that can be your “Road Warrior”? I would point you in the direction of the City Mini Double. Either way, you can’t really go wrong with these two. There is a reason they are the most popular strollers out there…

Oh Snap.

Those of you that are shopping for a light weight, durable double stroller know that the struggle is real! A very popular, side by side, double stroller is the City Mini Double. I could have played it safe and gone that route, but, I like to be different. Enter the Valco Snap Duo2 – Black Beauty.

Valco really got it right when they came out with this double. It’s perfection! I recently flew down to Orlando with my two little monsters and traveled with my Duo. Hands down made the trip soooo much easier! When you are pushing a stroller, pulling a car seat and traveling alone with 2 kids…you need easy.

The Snap Duo2 has some really phenomenal features. Check out my little list below but click here for their full website!

  • Fast/Flat one hand Fold (locks once folded)

  • Large storage Basket

  • Flat recline

  • Adjustable foot rests (if you recline the seat and pull the footrest up, it almost turns into a bassinet!)

  • 2 independent extendable canopies (with peek a boo windows)

  • 2 Bumper bars (included)

  • Rain Cover (included)

  • Shoulder strap carry

  • Stroller weight: under 24lbs

Like what you’re seeing!? You will love it even more in person. My only real complaint with this stroller is the canopy. It’s large and has plenty of coverage, but I would liked a little more. I feel bad even saying that but I like to keep it honest. Valco is releasing the Tailormade Valco Snap Duo2 which come in Denim Blue and Grey Marle. The Grey Marle is to die for!! I wonder If Valco Baby would accept a kidney as payment…. kidding!!

Be on the look out for the release of the Tailormade and make sure you snatch one up! I promise, you will not regret it.

I just wish I could get everyone to try the Snap Duo2!!

Britax B-Agile Double

Somewhere around stroller number 9, I decided to check out the Britax B-Agile. I had heard about the great features it had to offer but, I need to see for myself. So, off to BuyBuyBaby I went for like 20th time that month…. I wonder if they have me on a watch list or something. HA!

Anyways, coming in at $449.00, you get a whole lot of bang for your buck with the B-Agile Double. Some really awesome features this has are two independent large canopies, ventilated peek-a-boo window, adjustable handle bar, easy access to the storage basket (front AND back), pretty flat recline, 5 point harness, and it’s infant car seat compatible.  It hits on all the “must haves” when in the market for a side by side double stroller. Both of my kids really loved riding in the B-Agile. B loved it so much, he would even hop in it at home and take a nap. That’s when you know you’ve hit the stroller jackpot!

A couple other features a stroller needs to have in order to get all my love are an easy fold, one hand push, and a nice parent console that fits all my knick knacks that keep those epic temper tantrums at bay. This double meets all of those needs and more!

I know I’m like a broken record when it comes to storage baskets, but, Britax got it right when they added a zipper around the foot rest. This genius little addition opens up and gives you even easier access to the storage basket from the front. That my friends, is what I refer to as Stroller Porn (sorry Mom!)

Here are few more specs on the Britax B-Agile double:

Compatible with select carseats (see website)

Easy flat fold. Automatically locks once folded (this is such a nice feature)

Lightweight aluminum frame

Less than 30.5 inches wide to fit through standard doorways

Height adjustable handle

Large under seat storage with access through front foot rest

Two additional storage pockets behind seats

Front swivel wheels that are lockable

Five point harness

Numerous recline positions

Easy foot brake

I have only one complaint on this stroller and that is the snack tray…it sits a little too far out which made it difficult for B to much on his cheetos (I know, I know. Try not to judge me too harshly).  All in all, this is such a great option in a reasonable price point.  If you are in the market for a side by side double stroller, head to BuyBuyBaby and test the B-Agile out. It might just be your perfect stroller!

The Indie.

This review is of the Bumbleride Indie Twin. This stroller is amazing. It’s beautiful, yet rugged and has a storage basket that could hold my extra-large mommy purse! #winning

I wanted to try the Bumbleride Indie Twin because I kept hearing how absolutely amazing it is. Bumbleride has the most vibrant color options for their strollers…they are truly stunning (green papyrus!!). With that said, I ordered it in black. I pretty much order everything in black. I’ll try to work on that…

Anyways, back to the Indie Twin. What I love about this stroller goes beyond aesthetics. It it so incredibly functional and really has everything you need in a side by side double. Bumbleride was more than generous with the canopy design for the Indie Twin. When it’s completely extended, it was nearly touching the footrest! That is AMAZING for cold windy days here in Chicago. Another great aspect of this stroller is that it actually comes with accessories. Straight out of the box you receive 2 bumper bars, a universal car seat adapter (see compatibility chart here), a parent cup holder as well as a safety strap that attached to the handlebar. I mean really, how awesome it that!? It’s not very often you receive so many extras with the purchase of a stroller.

For anyone who is vertically challenge like myself (and I am sure all of you over 5’2” appreciate this as well), The Indie has an adjustable handle bar. The handle bar actually goes so low, my almost 2 year old was able to push the stroller!

Now with all of this good, there are a few minor issues I had with this stroller. The first being the seat angle. The seats sit at a slight recline which made my toddler a little frustrate. Minor, but still something to consider. Along with the slight angle it sits as, the recline strap is kind of pain. Definitely had to use what little muscle I have to get it back to the upright position after reclining. Maybe this was just my stroller though. Lastly, it’s a little awkward to get into the car once it’s folded. But really, what double stroller isn’t?

All in all – if you are looking for an all terrain stroller that doesn’t feel like your pushing a mac truck, this is your side by side double! Bumbleride is a fabulous company with quality products. You can’t really go wrong 😉
