Baby Registry: Top 6 picks!

Registering for your baby gear is seriously intense. Your feet are crazy swollen & emotions are all over the place. You had no clue how much crap a tiny baby needed and all you can think about is how bad you have to pee. I was crazy overwhelmed with the process so I wanted to share some of my faves that you can check off your list!

 1. Nuna LEAF

leaf_4_productdetail_740x700_navy_ff

Watch me sleep, now watch me sway sway. I LOVE the Nuna LEAF because it’s neutral and a space saver. This will grow with your child as it’s suitable form birth up to 130 lbs. Like, your butt can totally chill in this seat and watch the RHOBH if you wanted too…just sayin.

Nuna just came out with a great little attachment, the WIND, which allows the LEAF to continuously sway from side to side without your assistance. Sign. Me. Up.

2. UPPAbaby VISTA

uppababy-vista-2015-16

The VISTA is such a great stroller for a growing family. Not only is the VISTA an amazing single stroller, but, it’s a fab double stroller. You can use this from birth all the way up to toddler years. You can even use it will 3 kids if you needed to. The large basket is great for new parents that are lugging all that crap –  um, I mean gear – you need with a newborn!  Trust me on this one and stroll in style…get the VISTA!

3. 4MOMS Breeze

4moms_RedDot_2

This is my faaaave! We use it daily and LOVE. IT. The 4MOMS is SO easy to open and close. It’s literally done with one hand which makes this my favorite playard/travel crib available! The bassinet feature is great and suitable from birth to 18 pounds, while the playard is suitable up to 30 pounds. You also get a nice little travel bag for when you need to take naps on the go! Do yourself a favor and go with the Breeze. I promise you’ll love it!

4. Stokke Tripp Trapp

Tripp Trapp 150416-2679 Hazy Grey BS US_25861

I have the Tripp Trapp on this list for a few reasons, the main one being that this high chair grows with your child and will seriously last you forever. Plus, it looks pretty nice at the dining room table… have you seen the awesome colors it comes in?? Swoon! The Tripp Trapp is easy keep clean and has a couple great accessories to add-on making is the perfect high chair for your growing family.

5. Maxi Cosi Mico AP

maxi-cosi-mico-max-30-car-seat-black-devoted-1

The Maxi-Cosi AP is awesome! It’s currently the lightest infant car seat in its class which is awesome because once that baby hits around 10 lbs, you feel like your lugging around a bag of cement every time you lift a car-seat. A couple other great features on the Maxi-Cosi AP is the updated self-wicking fabric that helps keep baby dry and comfortable, a great canopy to keep baby protected from the sun, and a newborn head insert for a nice snug fit. Oh, and did I mention the fabric is machine washable and dryer safe? SOLD!! On a serious note, this seat is fantastic and SAFE. The LATCH system helps you get a great fit in your car, and the Air Protect Side Impact Technology gives your precious baby the protection they need while in the car.

**Your Car Seat is a major purchase from your registry, and I’m not talking about the price tag. This is what will be keeping your child safe and secure in the event of an accident. PLEASE READ your manual, use the seat as directed, and get with a Certified Passenger Safety Technician to make sure you have the proper installation for your seat/child!   PSA is now over**

6. LILLEbaby Carrier

edited3_3_1

Trust that this NEEDS to be on your Baby Registry. I would not be here today if it wasn’t for baby wearing. LILLEbaby has tons of different carriers so you will definitely find a good fit. I love the Complete All Seasons because baby wearing can get a little sweaty, especially in the Summer. The Complete All Seasons unzips to expose cool, breathable 3-D mesh to help with the heat. There are 6 different carrying position to keep you sane from newborn to crazy toddler years.

Almost everything on this list will get you through newborn to toddlers years, and beyond! My advice to new parents is going to the store, look at all the gear and see what you love. Push the strollers around, fold the playard, ask the sales associate to install the car seat in your car to make sure it’s a good fit! Don’t be afraid to ask questions…you wouldn’t buy a car without test-driving it and the same should go for baby gear 🙂

Happy Strolling!

UPPAbaby G-LINK Review.

G-G-G-G-LINK!!! See what I did there?  That’s about as far as my rapping goes.

Ok. The G-LINK is here!!  Yessss. It’s so good.  I am in love this light-weight double.  It’s got everything you’re looking for, and then some. Are you surprised?   You shouldn’t be.  UPPAbaby never disappoints!  We’ve  been using this for everyday errands and it seriously makes life so much easier.  It’s easy to get in and out of the car 3 or 4 times a day,  folds in two seconds,  and leaves plenty of extra room in the trunk for any Target clearance items! #winning #doublethelove

IMG_6584

The UPPAbaby G-LINK weighs in at just 24.5 pounds,  features independent flat reclines,  a generous 50 lb weight limit per seat,  large extendable canopies, super easy fold,  AND is suitable from birth.  It even comes with two newborn head support inserts and a nifty little mesh foot barrier to keep the peanuts  safe during the mushy baby stage!

The seats on the G-LINK are easily one of my favorite features this ride has to offer.  They are well thought out, and super cozy for the kids.   If you’re using this for newborns, the G-LINK includes 2 plush head support inserts and two mesh foot barriers that are attached under the seat.  The foot barrier is easy to stow away when not in use, and I love that it’s attached. One less accessory you need to keep track of!  Ain’t nobody got time for that with two kids.

IMG_6423

The seat back height is nice and tall  (18″ from the seat to the top of the seat back) and plenty more room from the seat to the top of the canopy (check out the specs below).   A 4/5 year-old could easily ride comfortably in the seats providing they are within the maximum weight limit.  The 5-point  harness straps are easy to adjust, and the clip is nice and secure. Harper is like frickin’ Houdini lately and can’t get out of this harness! hallelujah!

Each leg rest is adjustable, which is a huge plus if you’ve got a toddler, like Brody, who doesn’t need the extra leg support.  I will say though, that feature is so nice to have… We were out shopping the other day and Brody fell asleep in the car between stores.  I managed to do a successful transfer, which we all know winning the Mom Lottery.  I put him in the G-LINK with the seat fully reclined and the leg rest up so he could be extra cozy! Total lifesaver! Adjustable leg rest = must have!

The fabric is plush and super easy to keep clean.  I know this because we had a pretty intense pooplosion at IKEA, like the kind where you just throw everything away and pretend that didn’t just happen,  and the seat looks brand new after I cleaned it!  I may or may not have gasped in horror saying “oh my god, not on my new stroller…” when my Husband showed me the damage… HA! #sewnotfun #ionlyhadfourwipesleft #momfail

Ok, back on track here…The canopies are amazing considering this is an umbrella stroller.  They feature an SPF 50+ extendable sunshade which you all know by now is super important to me.  There is also a nice little peek-a-boo window that gives you a good view of the kiddos, and a pocket on the back that can store anything from your cell phone to the kids snacks. LOVE. IT.

IMG_6425

My absolute favorite feature on the G-LINK is the storage basket.  It’s super happy!

The storage basket has a maximum weight capacity of 10 lbs and is accessible from the back and sides. The best part of the storage basket is that it’s actually easy to access.  Can you imagine?  A storage basket that’s easy to access?  Can I get unanimous, HOLLA!!  Thank you, UPPAbaby.  Thank you.   No one does a storage basket quite like they do.  I can fit two packed Ju-Ju-Be- Super Be’s, the kids coats, and even a few Target goodies or groceries. If you need one reason to justify this purchase to your other half,  let it be that one.  If you are in need of a light-weight double for everyday use, travel,  themes parks, etc. you NEED storage space. Trust me!

IMG_6429

The push is surprisingly pretty good on this little gem.  I was a little nervous at first, but, it really has a decent push. It handles Target VERY well.  And that’s really all that matters, right?

What you need to take into consideration is that the G-LINK is a light-weight double umbrella stroller.  This is not going to have a one-hand push like the Vista or an all-terrain double. It’s not supposed to.  The push is not heavy, and I don’t feel it pull to one side with both kids in it.  It’s very easy to maneuver, and the perfect stroller for errands, traveling, theme parks, etc.  I’ve taken the G-LINK on many walks over bumpy side walks,  dirt,  and yes, even some slush, and have not had an issue.  It gets my stamp of approval!

Last, but not least, the fold.  The G-LINK has a very simple fold (check out my video below to see!). It folds into itself, keeping the fabric protected, and stands while folded. It’s compact, easy to do, and even has a nifty little carry strap if you need to transport it anywhere.   It’s so easy to get in and out of the trunk, and makes those hectic days running errands with both kids so much easier!

**Note- Use the center grey pull to unfold, versus the handles, which could compromise the strength over time.

IMG_6427

Overall,  I am borderline obsessed with the G-LINK.   It’s sturdy enough to handle the beating of everyday use,  comfortable for the kids to nap in,  and offers plenty of storage for all the crap you need with two kiddos!

The list of double umbrella strollers  I recommend is short. Like, really short.  It only has the G-LINK on it…ha! I don’t know if you’ve ever pushed around any other double Umbrella Strollers but it’s kind of a nightmare. They usually have an extra set of wheels in the middle which makes it hard to maneuver, and gets in the way of your stride. The canopies are always lacking, and you usually don’t have any storage space. You don’t have any of those issues with the G-LINK.  Not to mention the quality is perfection.  You get what you pay for…

Uppababy Vista vs. Uppababy Cruz – 2015 Edition

This is a frequently asked question in Chicago Stroller Shop.

What’s the difference between the 2015 UPPAbaby Vista and 2015 UPPAbaby Cruz? Let me break it down for you, so you can decide which is a better fit for your lifestyle!

Let’s get started. I can probably guarantee that if I took a walk downtown right now, I would see a minimum of 15 Uppababy Vistas. I was out with the kids and my niece last week, walking around Lincoln Park, and I stopped counting after 15. How crazy is that? That definitely says a lot about the stroller. Everyone wants it, and with good reason.

The 2015 Uppababy Vista is probably as close to perfect as they come. The new Vista has an easy one step fold, insanely large storage basket, shock absorbing front & rear suspension, reversible toddler seat, extendable SPF 50 sunshade, 180 degree recline and a one button telescoping handlebar. The 2015 Vista now includes an easy to clean bumper bar and an updated bassinet. This stroller is easy to push, easy to fold, and is easy on the eyes. But the Vista isn’t just an amazing single stroller, it is now, a fully functioning double stroller with the purchase of the 2015 Uppababy Vista Rumbleseat. Uppababy updated the rumble seat this year making it able to recline, face either direction, and adding the same SPF 50 extendable sunshade that’s featured on the toddler seat. This set up can even work if you have 2 littles and a toddler. Just attach the Piggyback and you are set up with a totally awesome triple stroller!

Everything I just stated above is why the Uppababy Vista is the number one choice amongst Moms. This stroller will take you from the newborn stage, with the use of the bassinet or carseat adapters, to those crazy toddler years, and keep you looking good along the way. #Vistaforthewin

Now, for MY personal favorite, the Cruz. Many of you would say there is no comparison between these two strollers. I feel differently. When someone says they are looking for a new stroller, I always tell them to buy a stroller that fits their needs now. Worry about a double stroller later on… enter the Cruz.

The 2015 Uppababy Cruz is a mini Vista in my eyes. It has a better push than before with their new AirGo tires, huge storage basket, front & rear facing toddler seat, easy one step fold, SPF 50 extendable sunshade, and now includes an easy to clean bumper bar. When it comes to size, the Cruz is more compact and perfect for everyday use. It’s light weight, has a fairly small footprint and will always be my go to stroller. The Cruz CANNOT have the Rumble seat added on, but, you can add the Piggyback and use this with an infant and toddler or two toddlers. If you love the Vista but are looking for a slightly smaller set up at a more reasonable price range, the Cruz is for you. It will forever be my favorite!

Now for a side by side comparison….

So, as you can see above, there are some major differences between the two. For me, it’s just about personal preference. I swear up and down by the Cruz, but, I have a friend who loves her 2015 Vista so much, she has two! One for the house, and one for the car. If you love it, you LOVE it!

So, my fellow stroller lovers…which Uppababy is right for you???
